This buttercream prepared with espresso is very easy to prepare, and is great when you need only a small amount of frosting, such as for the Coconut Coffee Cake. You can also use it on cupcakes or cookies.

Beat the butter in the bowl of an electric mixer on low speed for 2 minutes, until it has a creamy texture. Add the powdered sugar and mix 2 minutes more. Pour in the coffee little by little in a thin stream so the butter does not curdle. Add the extract, mix 2 minutes more, and set aside to frost the cake when it is completely cool.
